project information: Info

The American People Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating the largest collection of photographic portraits taken during any period in history.
The immediate goal of the project is to photograph Americans representing each of the fifty states. To date, we have photographed close to ten thousand Americans from 45 states.
Upon completion, the project will be donated to a national museum or archival library along with a State Museum in each of the fifty states, creating a collection of images that will be preserved and accessible to the American people for generations to come.
The significance of this collection is not only relevant today, but will be invaluable decades from now, when future generations will have the opportunity to study this unique moment in American history. Challenging our views of ourselves and others, this collection celebrates individual citizens, as well as the fact that diversity is one of the greatest strengths of our nation.
The American People Project is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
